Simon Cowell and One Direction star Louis Tomlinson were spooked when a “ghost” shook up X Factor filming.
The pale grey figure glided past a window as hopeful Anton Stephans, 45, performed for the pair at Simon’s Judge’s House – an old castle in France’s Loire Valley. At the instant the creepy vision appeared, TV monitors were said to have flickered on and off. Then a bolted window flew open, so the freaked out crew decided to stop shooting for the day. At the time Cowell joked: “It’s a ghost.”
When they checked footage taken at Chateau de Candes in Candes-Saint-Martin, a strange figure was there. Asked about the filming disruptions afterwards, Cowell said of the castle: “I know it’s haunted. I saw it.” His girlfriend Lauren Silverman, 38, said she too felt “a presence” and admitted she was scared.
And Xtra Factor host Rochelle Humes was so spooked to hear about a ghost she insisted her make-up artist slept in the same room as she was so terrified.
Monique Pignet, co-owner of the chateau – a renowned celeb haunt popular with Rolling Stone Sir Mick Jagger, 72, and AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson, 68 – claims a ghost lives there. She revealed: “Last year we had a Russian stay and he felt a definite presence. He said it was the spirit of a man and it was strong around the tower and what we call the arena. So it is true to say our place is haunted.”
