Helicopter Scrambled In Desperate Search For Two Missing Seven-Year-Olds

A major search was launched after two seven-year-old boys went missing from a city housing estate today. A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said the hunt was started in Newcastle after a call was received at 10.45am on Tuesday.

The children had last been seen on the Montagu estate in the Kenton area of the city. A spokeswoman earlier said: “Police are actively making enquiries to find two seven-year-old boys. A helicopter has been used and police are actively searching the area.”

Officers went door-to-door in Birnham Place, with several police vans in the area. The estate is just north of Nuns Moor, near the Town Moor and north of the city centre. At about 2pm, police confirmed they had found the boys and that they were safe and well.
