Unidentified gunmen have killed four guests at a luxury resort popular with Western expatriates – and one guest is still missing.
The attack happened in Mali, just outside the capital Bamako. Security forces backed by French and UN troops mobilized quickly when the attack was underway, rescuing 36 residents including 13 French citizens.
One of the victims of the attack is thought to be a Portuguese soldier working with the EU military training mission. Mali’s security ministry have identified one of the victims as French-Gabonese, one as Cameroonian, while the fourth has yet to be identified. The reason for the attack is unknown at this time.
