Don those sunnies and dust off the flipflops – tomorrow will be a scorcher with a 25C heatwave – the hottest day of 2017 so far.

The morning will start off chilly, but this ease off fairly quickly, however, before the sun makes it a Sunday to remember. Charles Powell of the Met Office said: “Tomorrow will be the hottest day of the year with 24C to 25C in the north of London. The day will start out a bit chilly with some mist and fog, but that will burn off pretty quickly as the sunshine is squeezed out across the UK.”

The high temperatures are the result of a plume of warm air drifting in from Europe. That would mean the UK will be warmer than some places in Spain and southern France. The warm weather is expected to continue until Wednesday.
