A four-month-old baby girl has tragically died after the vehicle she was travelling in collided with another car.The red Ford Focus carrying the child crashed into a blue BMW 1 Series on Birmingham Road, Walsall just before 9pm on Friday. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
West Midlands Police said that several others were taken to hospital with injuries that were not life threatening. After the incident, collision investigators closed the road for several hours.
Sergeant Chris Ridge, from the collision investigation unit, said: “A young baby has tragically died, this is devastating for her family and our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time. This is a busy road and we have spoken to a number of witnesses at the scene but we would still like to hear from anyone who saw what happened and has not yet spoken to an officer.
“It is essential that we piece together exactly what happened and I am keen to hear from anyone who can help us build a clear picture of the collision. Specialist officers from our family liaison unit are now supporting the family as they try and come to terms with their loss.”
