A CCTV image of the man suspected to be responsible for today’s terrorist attack in St Peterburg has been released. At least 10 people were killed and dozens more wounded by a “suitcase bomb” – 39 people are still in hospital.

The blast is reported to have been caused by a shrapnel-filled device; another unexploded bomb deactivated at another station. Pictures posted on social media show the door of a Metro train that had been blown out in the blast. Other images showed passengers lying on the ground of a station platform.No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, which happened while Russian President Vladimir Putin was visiting the city. Detectives have opened a terror investigation and warrants have been issued for two people.
