A huge fire is burning in Glasgow – and firefighters expect to be there all day. More than 50 firefighters were called to a massive fire at Blochairn Fruit Market in Glasgow in the early hours of this morning. Traders were at the warehouse at the time – and 400 people had to be evacuated.
Terrifying photos and video on social media show huge clouds of black smoke billowing over the city. People up to two miles away reported hearing at least two explosions as the fire broke out. Speeding restrictions were put in place on the M8 motorway as smoke has engulfed the carriageway.
Firefighters are struggling to get the fire under control hours after it started. Low water pressure is hampering their work. Paramedics are on the scene, along with 50 firefighters and 12 fire engines. 90% of the building caught fire, according to reports.
