An off-duty female officer from Cheshire police was killed in the Manchester attack. Her husband is critically ill and her children were injured in the blast, but the identity of the family is not yet known.
Steve White, chairman of the Police Federation of England and Wales , said: “Once again the service has been rocked by the devastating news that a member of the police family has lost their life because of the murderous actions of a terrorist,” said Mr White. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of everybody affected at this difficult time.”
Cheshire Police confirmed the death, saying: “Cheshire Police is now in a position to confirm that sadly one of our female officers tragically died while off-duty at the Manchester Arena on Monday 22 May. Unfortunately, we are not able to release any further details at the stage.”
