EastEnders has been cancelled! Thankfully, it’s just for tonight and BBC bosses have made the decision for a very good cause. Instead of giving us our Friday dose of Walford drama, the Children In Need telethon will be broadcast.
However, a string of Albert Square’s finest will still be making an appearance on our screen as they join forces to help raise as much money as possible for the charity. Last year, the BBC managed to raise a total of £37 million – but bosses are hoping to top that with a little help from their celebrity friends.
EastEnders favourite Danny Dyer – who plays Mick Carter in the BBC soap – has filmed a short skit for the seven-hour programme. In a sneak preview of the clip, the actor can be seen channelling Tom Cruise from Top Gun as he struts around Walford to Berlin’s Take My Breath Away. He then climbs on top of a motorbike, puts on his shades and safety helmet before driving off into the distance.
Marvin and Rochelle Humes will be hosting the live telethon this evening as they try to raise as much money as possible for poorly children around the world. The show will include special performances from Little Mix, Zara Larsson, the cast of Citizen Khan and Russell Kane.
