Jahmene Douglas sparked suicide fears among his fans when he asked them to pray for him and admitted he was having a dark day. Speaking to his Twitter followers today, Jahmene simply wrote: “Dark Day. Pray for me.”
The X Factor star was inundated with messages of support from his fans who he’s previously thanked for helping him through his battle with depression. One wrote: “Stay strong Jahmene,you are a fighter & you are worth winning this battle.Please call a friend, don’t stay alone!” Another simply replied: “Please talk to someone.” Earlier this month Jahmene opened up about the depths of his battle with depression – sharing a long post describing his mental state, titled: “This is me…”
The soul and gospel singer admitted to fans that he had “suicidal thoughts” and was feeling “broken, lost and worthless”. His X Factor co-star James Arthur reached out to him at the time and encouraged him to seek help. Jahmene later apologised to his fans and, in an emotional open letter, he thanked them for supporting him.
