A security alert is in place at a train station in Brussels after a suspicious package was discovered.Police have shut off the front off the Brussels-North station and it has been evacuated as investigations are carried out. A heavy police and army presence remains at the station.
The suspect package was found in a car but it is not yet clear what is inside. However, bomb disposal teams from Belgium’s military have been sent to the busy train station.
Workers in nearby offices have not been evacuated but police are warning them to stay away from the windows.
The drama comes after a major train station was evacuated in June after two suspect packages were found. In March, 32 people were killed after three suicide bombings in Brussels.
