Police are now investigating the grim crime which occurred on a dirt track in Elnup Woods in the Standish area of Wigan between 7.30am and 8.10am on Armistice Day, Tuesday of last week (11/11/14).

The 54 year-old victim was walking his dog in Elnup Woods and when he returned to his grey Landrover Freelander, which was parked up off Wigan Lower Road, he discovered the windows of his vehicles smashed and a pig’s head placed on the seat of the car.

PC Sean O’ Connor is investigating; he said: “This appears to be a premeditated targeted attack but we do not believe it is racially motivated in anyway. The time of the day when this took place was during the morning rush hour and Wigan Lower Road is a busy main road.

“There is a good chance a passing motorist may have witnessed the damage taking place and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time, and may have seen anything, to contact police.”

Anyone with any information is urged to call the police on 0161 856 7124 or alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
