A dad-of-two died when he was thrown from his superbike after hitting a pigeon.Ashar Niazi, 35, died during an early morning ride with three friends when he was knocked off his bike by a pigeon in a “freak accident”. He died was the day before his daughter’s sixth birthday and he was due to celebrate the occasion that afternoon.
Friend of 14 years Nav Shah was the third in the four-person convoy following a route they regularly rode to the beach when the pigeon struck at around 7am. Nav said: “As I came around the corner I saw a lot of feathers in the air, like somebody took a pillow and burst it.
“So I went through that cloud of feathers then I saw a cloud of dust. It was that dense that I couldn’t see through it. Then I saw Ash’s motorbike on the left side but in the road. It was all broken up.” A pigeon was lying dead on the road.Nav and the other riders began desperately looking around for Ash and found him lying by a tree. The emergency services were called and paramedics fought for 15 minutes to save his life but he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
