Covent Garden was put on lockdown following the discovery of a “suspect package”. Police taped off an area of Floral Street, close to the tourist hotspot, shortly before 10am.
Onlookers said several roads were sealed-off and workers were told not to leave their offices. Others took to social media to discuss the incident. One Twitter user wrote: “Covent Garden cordoned off due to a suspect package.”
Another added: “The road I work on in Covent Garden has been closed due to a bomb scare.” And another wrote: “Police presence outside the office very heavy.” Matt Fletcher tweeted: “Police cordon in Covent Garden. Long Acre is closed off and no one’s allowed to leave their buildings #whatshappening”
