Actress Denise Black is in line for a shock return to Coronation Street as she was spotted on the set of the soap – after a decade away. The much-loved actress, who was most recently starring in Emmerdale , has been dropping hints over the past few months that she would be returning to the cobbles as Daniel’s mum Denise by mentioning the soap on her Twitter page.

Denise was spotted holding a script and was closely flanked by Bill Roache (Ken Barlow) as the pair looked to be preparing to film a scene. They were snapped filming in a flat in Davyhulme, Manchester, near the studios.

Her main stint on the show was from 1992 until 1996, during which her character had an affair with Ken and gave birth to Daniel. She briefly returned in 2007, during which she made a clumsy pass at Ken before moving away again. She then moved on to Emmerdale but her character Joanie Dingle was killed off via a shock heart attack in January. Her return comes at a dramatic time for the Barlows – as the hunt continues to identify who pushed Ken Barlow down the stairs.
