Corrie and Emmerdale fans are livid after ITV bosses cancelled the hit shows this coming Wednesday (28 June). The soaps have been rescheduled to air later in June so the TV channel can provide coverage for the semi-finals of the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup – something which has left viewers furious.
The matches will take place in Russia on Wednesday June 28 and Thursday June 29, which means soapies will miss out on an episode of Coronation Street and a double bill of Emmerdale. One viewer took to Twitter to express his fury, tweeting: “Coronation Street cancelled for some tinpot cup that no one’s heard of. Get a grip ITV.”
Another fan added: “Well done to the Coronation Street cast for another gripping story, it’s a pity you [are] not on 2 nights next week due to football. So annoying.” It is not known when Corrie will air yet, but there will be a two hour long episode of Emmerdale on Tuesday June 27, according to The Sun.
