A Coronation Street fan has died after suffering a fatal heart attack while watching a traumatic episode of the soap.1corrieTrevor Murfitt, 81, was watching at his home in Orewa, New Zealand on October 14 when he suffered a heart attack and collapsed.

He was taken to hospital but died the next day and is survived by his wife Barbara. The episode in question was screened in January 2015 on ITV – as New Zealand is nearly two years behind the UK – and was the one where the staff of Underworld were involved in a minibus crash.

“Trevor’s last words were, ‘That bus is going to go over the edge’,” Barbara told Stuff. “We were all watching the screen and half a minute later I turned to look at Trevor and he’d collapsed in his favourite chair. We rang the ambulance straight way.”

The scene showed the bus with several characters aboard run off the road by a car load of male racers, and left the lives of Carla Connor and Sinead Tinker hanging in the balance. Others involved in the accident included Sally Webster and Steve McDonald, who was driving.
