Police discovered the horrific scene after neighbours reported an “eye-watering smell like rotting meat.”
A chef chopped up his girlfriend, dismembering her before putting some of the body parts on the hob to boil dumping other remains in rubbish bins outside the apartment block in Brisbane, Australia.
Police were called to the apartment of 28 year-old chef Marcus Volke after his neighbours reported concerns after an “eye-watering smell like rotting flesh” emanating from his home.
When the police broke in, they discovered that Volke had killed his Indonesian girlfriend, Mayang Prasetyo, and sliced her body apart. When the police arrived, Volke fled the apartment by leaping over a balcony. He then hid in a nearby alleyway and took his own life by slashing his own throat.
Volke and Prasetyo, who reportedly was a transgender prostitute, had recently moved to the expensive apartment in the Brisbane suburb Teneriffe. However, neighbours have said then heard loud arguing inside the flat up until a week ago. A visiting tradesman has said that the carpet in the apartment “squelched” when he walked on it.
One resident in Volke’s apartment block, Courtney Reichart, said she originally noticed the fouls smell on Wednesday and that it got worse day-by-day: “On Saturday when I came out for a walk, it made your eyes water, it made you want to be sick. The smell, it was like as if somebody had put out some dog food or red meat and left it out for a few days. It makes you feel sick that that poor girl sat there for however many days and we’ve been walking past, living our lives and thinking ‘hmmm what’s that smell’, but you don’t put two and two together. You don’t think that a bad smell equals a murder.”
