Cheerleader Charged With Killing Newborn Baby After “Burying It Alive”

A teenage cheerleader has been charged with killing her newborn baby after the infant’s remains were found buried in her back yard. Brooke Skylar Richardson, 18, was arrested and charged with reckless homicide after police made the grim discovery last week. Prosecutors in Ohio say evidence shows the child was “born alive and was not a stillborn baby.”

The baby’s remains were discovered on July 14 near a home in Carlisle, about 40 miles north of Cincinnati. Authorities found the remains after receiving a tip from a doctor’s office, according to the Dayton Daily News. It is not yet know how the baby died. Police are awaiting a report from the county coroner.

The baby died on May 7, Warren County Prosecutor David Fornshell said according to a criminal complaint. Richardson, who is accused of burying the baby alive, pleaded not guilty to reckless homicide during a brief municipal court hearing in Franklin, Ohio, on Friday.
