The discovery of “suspicious” objects at the exit of Borussia Dortmund’s stadium – just a day after the team’s bus was hit by three explosions – meant the football ground is on lockdown.
The south-east corner of the Signal-Iduna Park was sealed off while explosives experts were deployed to the stadium. A Dortmund Police spokesman said: “We have found suspicious objects in the area of the exit. The area is currently closed while items are checked by specialists.”
The scare comes 24 hours after yesterday’s bomb blast shattered the football team’s bus window and injured a player. Police have arrested an “Islamist” and another is being investigated. Player Marc Bartra was rushed to hospital and the match was postponed.
