Police are treating as “unexplained” the discovery of a man’s body in the famous Blue Coat School in Liverpool.
Police were called to the grammar school today, just after noon, after a member of staff reported concerns for a colleague’s welfare to the emergency services.
Upon investigation at the school on Church Road in Wavertree, a man’s body was discovered in a basement room, apart from the teaching rooms.
A spokesman for the police said: “The room and an area of the school has been cordoned off to allow a police investigation into the man’s death to be carried out. At this early stage of the investigation his death is being treated as unexplained.
“A post mortem examination will be carried out in due to course to establish a cause of death. Neighbourhood police officers are liaising with the school and local authority to ensure that pupils, parents and staff are given appropriate information and support at this time.”
An ambulance attended the scene but was not required.
