At least two pedestrians in their 70s were left seriously wounded – one left with life-threatening injuries – after a car mounted the promenade in a seaside town. The pair were hit at 10.30am on Saturday in the popular resort of Bridlington Spa in East Yorkshire.
An air ambulance landed on the beach to take the casualties to Hull Royal Infirmary . The driver of the car, a man in his 50s from Cyprus, was treated for minor injuries and police are reportedly investigating the possibility he became unwell at the wheel. The road was closed for several hours as police examined the scene.
The two casualties are believed to be from Bedford and ITV reported one of the patients suffered “life-changing injuries”.
