Prince Harry has made a big reveal. In order to show solidarity with those who suffer from HIV, the prince is to made a confession and revealed, via a video clip, a personal secret.
The prince is one of several celebrities who are releasing video statements today. Others sharing a secret include Paloma Faith, Nicole Scherzinger, Gemma Arterton and Ricky ‘The Hitman’ Hatton. The stars’ secrets will be released on the “FeelNoShame” website that is also asking members of the public to make their own confessions via social media using the Twitter hashtag #FeelNoShame.
Prince Harry is hoping that his shared secret, the revelation of which is timed to coincide with World Aids Day, will show his solidarity with HIV sufferers throughout the world, who often face ostracism and stigma if their HIV status is known and therefore they keep it secret.
The Feel No Shame campaign has been launched by the charity Sentebale, which was co-founded by Prince Harry. The charity aims to raise awareness of how removing the shame and secrecy an save lives, as HIV sufferers can seek education about and medical support for their condition. Education is key in preventing further spread of the virus.
The Prince revealed that despite his laughing and joking he is incredibly nervous of public speaking and worried every time he does it. He also said that he feared making the revelation would make him even more nervous in the future.
