Newcastle United legend Philippe Albert has been involved in a shocking car crash in Belgium. The 49-year-old, who also used to play for Fulham, was travelling on the busy N90 from Basse-Sambre to Gilly when he was involved in an accident.
According to reports in Belgium, the accident happened at 1.20pm local time (2.20pm UK time), when Albert was heading towards Charleroi in his Suzuki Vitara. Emergency services said a car came from a slip road and hit the driver’s door, before both vehicles came to a stop.Albert emerged from his car unharmed, with pictures showing his airbag had deployed, but the other car – a Citroen Berlingo people carrier – came much worse off. A man and his baby were in the car and both have been taken to hospital with injuries.
