BREAKING NEWS: Teenager shot dead in Liverpool

A teenage boy has been shot dead in Liverpool.

The 18-year-old was gunned down in the Toxteth area of the city, police said.

Officers were called on Friday night to reports of a man being found injured near Lodge Lane.

Merseyside Police has confirmed the lad has now died.

Bobbies were reportedly alerted to the injured boy in Tagus Street, to the rear of shops in Lodge Lane, at about 8.30pm.

Armed police were called to the scene – along with an ambulance.

Paramedics treated the boy and he was taken to hospital but was later pronounced dead.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said: “Merseyside Police detectives have launched a murder investigation following the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old man in Toxteth last night, Friday 2 June.

“The man was found seriously injured around 8.30pm on Tagus Street off Lodge Lane and he has since been pronounced deceased at hospital.

“His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers at this difficult time.

“A post-mortem examination will take place in due course and detectives will remain at the scene this morning as enquiries continue.”
