A body has been found in a ravine and a spokeswoman has confirmed it is the body of a film star that went missing last week.
The August: Osage County and Django Unchained star Misty Upham was last seen on 6th October.
Following a search of an area near Seattle by the 32 year-old’s family and friends, a body was found in a ravine.
Misty’s father, Charles Upham, has made a formal identification of his daughter’s body. The Native American actress was understood to have suffered from bipolar disorder.
Steve Stocker, a local police commander said that there was no evidence of foul play and Misty Upham’s family expressed concern at the time of her disappearance that she might have stopped taking her medication.
Following the news of the finding of her body, actress Juliette Lewis tweeted that Upham “spoke out a lot against injustices within the Native community. And had known enemies. Police must do an investigation” and followed it up with another tweet:
“I can’t sleep. Too much darkness. I feel so sad about Misty. I know she has more to say. And about how she died.”
Meryl Streep, who was in the 2013 film August: Osage County with Upham said: “So, so sad to hear this news — all our thoughts are with her family and with her beautiful spirit.
