A man has been held by armed police outside Buckingham Palace amid increased concern over security in the wake of the Manchester concert bombing.

The man was arrested  just moments before the Queen passed by in a car.  A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “A man has been arrested in The Mall, SW1.

“Patrolling officers detained and arrested the man at 10:40am today. No one was injured. A knife was recovered.  A man has been taken to a central London police station. The incident is not believed to be terrorist-related.”
