BREAKING: JFK Airport Evacuated As Massive Fire Breaks Out In Departure Gate

A fire at a restaurant inside New York’s JFK Airport led to passengers being evacuated this afternoon. A grease fire inside the Panda Express restaurant close to departure gate B25 erupted at about 3.30pm (8.30pm BST), Port Authority police said.

Thick smoke emitting from the fire filled the nearby area, causing a section of the airport to be evacuated.
Video taken by a passenger showed huge flames flying up from behind the service counter of the Chinese eatery, with some bystanders stepping in to film the blaze.

Firefighters were pictured tackling the blaze from the roof of the airport with the help of an aerial ladder.  JKF Airport tweeted that the security checkpoint and departure level at Terminal 4 was closed.
