A bus filled with tourists burst into flames as it made its way to the airport – killing all 26 on-board.The driver careered into a railing on the central reservation and was killed on impact. But the collision caused the front doors to wedge shut – leaving all passengers trapped inside as flames tore through the bus.
They were travelling from Taiwan when the bus crashed near Taoyuan City at around 6am GMT (1pm local time). It was on its way to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. Two of the victims were tour guides and the rest tourists from China who were making their journey home from a holiday.
Terrifying pictures of the flames and the burnt out vehicle emerged on Twitter. They showed the red-and-white bus lying on its side with the front right appearing to have crashed into railings in the central reservation.
Emergency crew could be seen desperately trying to battle the fire as plumes of black smoke billowed through the air.
