At least 16 people have died after a military flight crashed in Mississippi. The US Marine Corps tweeted Monday that “a USMC KC-130 mishap occurred the evening of July 10. Further information will be released as available.”

The refueling tanker was loaded with explosives and the “high-density explosions” kept emergency responders at bay, a state trooper said. Investigators revealed that debris indicated the plane exploded in midair.

Officials located 12 bodies are continuing to look for others across a large debris field, stretching at least 5 miles. It is thought that the death toll is 16, with four bodies as yet unaccounted for.
