The death toll of the Grenfell Tower inferno has climbed to at least 58 people “missing presumed dead” amid fears the number could still rise. Commander Stuart Cundy of the Metropolitan Police confirmed the latest numbers which have been climbing steadily since the disaster.
The 24-storey, 120 flat tower block was engulfed in flames in the early hours of Wednesday. Investigators are now trying to establish the cause of the fire and how it spread so quickly through the block.
Angry residents and families marched on Downing Street yesterday as fury over the inferno boiled over. People demanded answers as authorities were accused of ignoring residents concerns over fire safety.
