Firefighters are battling a major blaze at a medical centre in Surrey. Witnesses reported hearing a loud “boom” before the fire engulfed the building in Weybridge at around 11pm on Tuesday.
Pictures and video show large flames and thick, black smoke filling the night’s sky. Eight fire engines are at the scene but there are no reports of injuries and it is believed no one was present when the fire began.
It is believed there are a number of medical facilities at the building, including a walk-in centre and doctors’ surgery. One witness said the roof and top floor are “all burnt away”. Another wrote: “Explosions in weybridge are apparently big fire at Walk In Centre! I’ve heard 3 now. Huge bangs!” Surrey Police advised people to avoid the area. There were also reports of a nearby street being evacuated but this has yet to be confirmed.
