Four men – all aged 20 or 21 – have been arrested on suspicion of terrorism; they have been detained by by officers from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command.
Scotland Yard said that the Metropolitan Police have searched a number of addresses across London as part of their investigations into Islamist terror activities.
During the arrests, one suspect was tasered, but Scotland Yard said he did not require medical treatment and issued a statement about the raids:
“SO15 officers were assisted in the execution of warrants at one of the addresses by officers from the Specialist Firearms Command (SCO19). No shots were fired. A number of residential addresses and vehicles are being searched by specialist officers in west and central London as part of the investigation. The searches are ongoing. These arrests and searches are part of an ongoing investigation into Islamist-related terrorism.”
All four men remain in custody at police stations in central London.
