Commuters are facing nightmare delays at two major trains stations in London after track closures spark chaos. Passengers trying to get home on South West services out of London Waterloo faced major delays after a track closure on one of the hottest days of the year. Paddington station is also seeing widespread delays as commuters face cancellations following a signal failure between Southall and West Drayton.
Disgruntled rail user Steve Howell (@FromSteveHowell) raged against signal failures which left departure screens blank at Paddington Rail station this evening.
South West trains told Waterloo passengers the disruption was due to a spate of unlucky accidents all in one day. A spokesman for the rail company said: “Today we have suffered multiple signal failures and a track defect at London Waterloo and a signal failure between Romsey and Eastleigh. A road traffic incident at a level crossing caused all lines between Staines and Egham to be blocked, additionally a freight train failed at Micheldever.”
