The Highways Agency has said that there was a “serious incident” on the M5 in Gloucestershire and a coach carrying 54 people has overturned.
The police have said that the coach appears to have hit a barrier before leaving the motorway and crashing into a ditch. It has been reported that five passengers, including one child, received minor injuries in the crash and the driver was also hurt. The air ambulance and several emergency crews attended the scene.
The accident occurred near Stroud and near Junction 13 on the Southbound carriageway. Police have closed the motorway Southbound between Junctions 13 and 14. There are currently two miles of tailbacks and diversions are in place.
It has been reported that the children on the coach were on their way from Dudley to Weston-super-Mare for a day at the seaside.
