A major incident is underway at Amsterdam’s central train station after a car ploughed into pedestrians. One witness said the car hit at least ten people.

Five people were injured and the driver of the car was being interrogated by police after being arrested. Photos and video posted online show victims being treated as they lay on the floor and several ambulances and police cars at the scene.

The incident happened at about 9pm local time after the car drove into an area where vehicles are not allowed and attempted to flee as they were approached by police. After ploughing into pedestrians the car smashed into a concrete barrier. Several victims have been rushed to hospital, but the extent of their injuries is not yet known.
