Brussels Airport has been placed on lockdown after ‘suspicious writing’ was discovered on the walls of the men’s toilets in the arrivals hall, according to reports.

The discovery was made at 7.45pm this evening and a security perimeter was immediately established. Police and soldiers swooped on the terminal to search for suspicious parcels after the writing was found, Belgian media reported.

It comes 15 months after 32 civilians were killed and 300 injured in a series of co-ordinated suicide bombings in Brussels – two at the airport and one at a metro station in the city.
