A five-year-old boy crushed to death in a freak accident at a revolving restaurant was on a holiday with his family when the tragedy occurred. Charlie Holt has been named as the child who suffered a severe head injury last week when he got stuck between a rotating table and the wall of the restaurant.
The youngster had been visiting the Sun Dial restaurant on the 72nd floor of the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel, Atlanta, Georgia, with his family during a holiday. The family had stopped for lunch at the restaurant when Charlie wandered away from their table at about 4pm. His head became lodged between a wall and a table as the floor rotated. An emergency shut-off was automatically activated, stopping the rotator, but the boy had suffered severe injuries. Charlie was rushed to hospital but sadly died around an hour later. “His whole body was caught between maybe four to five inches of space. His head took the brunt of the injury,” Atlanta Police Sgt. Warren Pickard said.
