Bomb squad officers swooped on a primary school yesterday after three suspicious packages were discovered in the grounds. Locals feared explosives had been planted in an underpass – and police found two other similar packages at nearby Whitefield Primary School in Luton.
They heard three loud explosions as Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams safely neutralised the packages. Detectives are now investigating where the packages came from after they were discovered on Luton Road off Stockholm Way at around 6pm last night.
Shannon Elmer, who lives nearby, said: “My mum’s is right where the package is and police have told us to close all windows and stay inside.” Luke Chambers said: “Three suspicious packages had been left around Marsh Farm. Police got the bomb squad in, and it turned out to be bombs apparently.”
