A jobless man has been charged with preventing a burial after a teenage girl’s body allegedly wrapped in clingfilm was found stuffed inside a wardrobe at a hostel. Ashley Foster, 24, is set to appear before magistrates following the discovery of the girl thought to be 17-year-old Megan Louise Bills.
Staff members and residents at a supported living home in Brierley Hill, West Midlands, allegedly discovered Megan at 11.30am on Thursday after being alerted by the smell in the bedroom. Police have confirmed the multi-occupancy hostel was used by some ex-offenders and run by private firm New Horizon. Residents say she could have been dead for up to a week before she was found.
One of the residents who didn’t want to be named, said: “We found this body all wrapped up in the wardrobe. It clearly been there a while as it really stunk. We thought it was an animal at first but then a leg fell out.” A post mortem conducted on Saturday proved inconclusive and further tests are being carried out to determine the cause of Megan’s death.
