It looks like winter is about to show its first real hand with forecasters warning of blizzards for parts of the UK. For the rest of today the main area at risk of snowfall is the western side of Scotland, but moving into the evening, the risk will extend southwards, meaning snow could blanket the whole of the Britain.

Tomorrow’s predicted wintery showers could also mean snow, with some forecasting models predicting snowfall of up to 10 centimetres in the worst-affected areas.

Moving into Friday, an area of low pressure sinking southwards in the North Sea, is set to bring snow once again. Forecasters do not yet know how far inland will this snowfall come, but weather warnings remain in place.
