A man has been charged with murder after the death of a “beautiful” young woman who suffered facial injuries in an alleged attack. Devastated friends of Alex Stuart, 22, have left hundreds of tributes on social media, saying she was a “lovely girl” who was “always laughing”. A family friend said the tragic news was too much to take in and that “everyone will miss her so much”.
Alex died several hours after an incident at a house in the Cuddyside area of Peebles, Scotland, yesterday morning. She suffered facial injuries and was taken to Edinburgh’s Royal Infirmary where she later died. A 26-year-old man was expected to appear at Selkirk Sheriff court today after being charged with murder.Police said he was detained in a car park near a supermarket in the town and was also charged with two assaults and a breach of the peace. Grieving friends took to social media to pay their respects to popular Alex, who is believed to have worked for Royal Mail. Friend Phillip Holt wrote: “Words can’t describe how much I’ll miss you little lady. You were such a caring and thoughtful person to me and my family. It truly was a pleasure to have known you.”
