A pair of sports cars sparked Bank Holiday misery for motorists after slamming into each other on a motorway. The collision between a black Porsche and a Ford Mustang on the eastbound M62 in Yorkshire saw both its lanes closed for FIVE hours on Sunday night.

Both vehicles suffered serious damage in the crash on the Ouse Bridge, near Howden, East Yorkshire. The impact of the smash saw the Porsche’s engine torn out of the rear where it is housed. One eyewitness told The Hull Daily Mail: “They just kept spinning and thought they were going to go into the river. As they hit the metal railings, the engine of the Porsche was 200 metres up the road.”

Another witness saw one of the engines slide across the carriageway and remarked: “It was shocking but sadly we see this all the time.” As a result of the accident at around 5.30pm, the motorway was closed between junction 36 and 37 and a diversion was put in place that affected hundreds of motorists.
