A 16-year-old girl has died and six teenagers have been injured after a ‘speeding car’ careered onto a pavement as it flew around a corner. Police say the driver of the red Audi A3 convertible was “travelling at speed” when he lost control on a corner and mowed down a group of teens in the early hours of this morning.
The driver, who fled from the scene on foot following the collision in Croydon, south London, is being hunted. The male driver is believed to have suffered a head injury in the smash. The 16-year-old victim died at the scene, while six others were rushed to hospital, but it not believed their injuries are life-threatening. Next of kin have been informed.
