Police have arrested a 14 year-old boy on the suspicion that he raped a 19 year-old woman at the Reading Festival.
The youth, who is from Surrey, was arrested yesterday along with a 31 year-old man from London. The alleged victim informed police at the festival that she had been sexually assaulted on Thursday evening in a caravan on the site.
According to reports, the young woman met her reported attackers close to an ice-cream van earlier on Thursday as fans were beginning to congregate on site to watch a line-up of bands that includes Arctic Monkeys and Blink-182.
One of the on-site police team, Chief Inspector Dave Parker said: “There is currently a scene watch in place and I would like to reassure those attending the festival that crime levels remain low and crimes of this nature are very rare. Officers are patrolling the site to support on-site security and if anyone has any concerns, please feel free to approach our officers to discuss these.”
