BREAKING: Paris Terror Alert – Tourists Locked In Eiffel Tower, Eurostar Evacuated

Tourists were locked inside the Eiffel Tower and the Eurostar evacuated amid a Paris terror alert involving someone who was ‘acting weird’ this evening. People took to social media to share images of the 324-metre-high tourist attraction shut off and surrounded by police.

One person has been arrested. Initial reports said the person was carrying a weapon, with some social media users mentioning both a ‘gun’ and a ‘knife’. A cordon surrounded the area as officers stopped people from getting close to the landmark. The incident came as another security scare unfolded at the Gare du Nord, where passengers on the Eurostar were evacuated when a ‘suspicious item’ was found

Bob Thomas said on Twitter: ‘Anyone know what is going on at the Eiffel Tower? All been shut down.’ Earlier in the evening the tourist told the Mirror: ‘We’re stuck in one of the legs outside the lift. We’ve been locked in. Told it’s a full lock down. Nothing official yet. We are currently locked down at the base outside one of the lifts. Been told a guy was acting weird but no confirmed weapon. The staff have been locked in with us.’

Transgender Boy, 15, Found Hanged In Bedroom By Dad After School Refused Name Change

A transgender teenager killed himself in his bedroom after coming out to his “supportive” family and friends, an inquest heard today. Leo Etherington, born Louise, was found hanged in the room by his horrified dad, Martin Etherington, after he failed to come downstairs for dinner.

The hearing was told that the 15-year-old committed suicide on an afternoon in May when his family believed he was revising for upcoming exams. It heard that he left a suicide note and had previously expressed anger at his school for not letting him change his name until he turned 16.  I could see from the colour of his face and the coldness of his skin that he was dead,” said the heartbroken dad.

The teenager had started using the name Leo after revealing to his father that he felt he had been born in the wrong body. Mr Etherington said that his son had been angry at his school for not letting him change his name. But he said he had a “supportive network” of loved ones. “The school had told him he had to be 16 to change his name,” said the dad.

BREAKING: Man Stabbed At Westfield Shopping Centre – “Blood All Over The Floor”

A man was stabbed in a ‘mass brawl’ at the Westfield shopping centre in east London and another left with head injuries. Police rushed to Stratford train station, next door to the shopping centre, to reports of a fight this evening.  They found a man with a stab wound and another with head injuries. A social media photo shows a man lying on the floor inside the shopping centre surrounded by police and security guards.

A suspect was arrested in the shopping centre on suspicion of causing GBH and possession of an offensive weapon, the Met Police said. One witnesses claimed she was locked in a shop and saw ‘blood all over the floor’ and another claimed there was ‘a mass brawl’.  Hollie Rose posted on Twitter: “Imagine getting locked in a store in Westfield only to come out to find blood all over the floor and police everywhere, brilliant.”

Justin Dealey said: “Thought I would come to Westfield Stratford for a change. Within minutes I’ve seen a mass brawl in the shopping centre.”  Lewis Bloyce wrote: “You see Westfield Stratford, it ain’t safe.”  A Met Police spokesman said: “We were called at 6.15pm to reports of a fight near Stratford station.  A male was found suffering a stab injury and taken to hospital. Giant Mutant Spider FOUR TIMES Its Usual Size Found Lurking Above Front Door

A MUTANT spider FOUR TIMES the usual size terrified a hardened farmer when he came face-to-face with the creature lurking above his front door. The man was clearing ivy from the side of his house when he suddenly spotted the gigantic arachnid lurking above the door frame.

In the chilling footage the man is seen calling his friend over to the house to show him the terrifying spider. His pal instantly recoils in shock at the sight and shouts: “Oh f*** he’s big. Wow.” The camera then pans out to reveal its true size – measuring a shocking 12 centimetres across.

The spider was found in Waingaro, New Zealand. The giant creature is believed to be a sheetweb spider which usually measure about three centimetres in length and are medium-sized in comparison to other types. But the arachnid in the video is at least four times bigger. Sheetwebs are renowned for their huge, piercing mandibles.

Britain Has The Largest Number Of Islamist Radicals In All Of The EU

The UK has the largest number of Islamist radicals in the EU, the EU counter-terrorism chief says, just as home-grown terrorists are found to pose the “predominant” threat. According to Gilles de Kerchove, the UK has identified between 20,000 and 35,000 fanatics. MI5 considers 3,000 of them “worrying,” and 500 are under “constant and special attention,” the chief said.

By comparison, France is thought to be home to 17,000 radicals, and Spain around 5,000. “I wouldn’t like to put a concrete figure on it, but (in Europe) tens of thousands, more than 50,000,” de Kerchove told Spanish newspaper El Mundo. “We must select those who are really worrying and the most dangerous, and they should be monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”

This comes as security sources told Sky News that the threat posed to the UK by Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) jihadists returning home is not as severe as initially thought by police and intelligence services. On the other hand, there is an unprecedented terrorist threat from home-grown terrorists who have been encouraged or instructed to carry out attacks.

Murder Hunt After Baby Girl’s Body Found Dumped In Park

A murder investigation has been launched after the body of a baby girl was found dumped in a park. The child was discovered in bushes in Manor Park, Aldershot earlier this year, sparking a desperate search for her mother, but officers today revealed the baby was murdered.

“Baby M” was found on Friday, May 19, having been dumped sometime between 6pm on Monday May 15 and 8am the following morning. At the time police said they suspected the baby’s mother may have given birth on the pavement near where the body was dumped after witnesses reported seeing pools of blood on the floor.

Investigations to identify the baby’s mother and anyone else who may be connected to the death were continuing, officers confirmed today.  Detective Chief Inspector Dave Brown, of Hampshire Constabulary’s Major Crime team, said: “This is an extremely complex investigation and it has taken a great deal of professional medical analysis to establish that we are now treating this as a murder investigation.”

Petrol Costs Set To Rocket In Britain After Hurricane Harvey

British drivers face the prospect of a jump in petrol costs next week because of a steep rise in wholesale prices being blamed on the effects of Hurricane Harvey.

The warning was sounded by an industry body which charted a rise of more than 4p-per-litre in wholesale costs over the past five days alone.  The Petrol Retailers Association (PRA) said the impact of that increase on its members would be felt by motorists in the coming days.

The RAC said petrol was on course to overtake diesel costs for the first time in a year with average prices likely rising above 121p per litre – its highest level since 2014 – with no end to the surge currently in sight.
